Economic Development Week, created by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in 2016, is a special time of year that encourages the community to highlight programs that improve our local development. The Auburn Industrial Development Authority is proud to take part in this global celebration of growth as we continue to take root.
Regional Growth Snapshot
We and our partners at CEDA are always hard at work to help local businesses in Auburn and the surrounding area start, grow, overcome, and thrive. In 2020 alone:
- 120 existing businesses were assisted through normal Economic Development work
- 193 existing businesses were assisted specifically during COVID, Mar-Sept 2020
- 15 new businesses opened
Under Auburn’s COVID-19 Economic Recovery Support Program:
- $224,000 was committed to Auburn’s emergency CDBG funds, plus another $100,000 from its revolving loan fund, to provide grants to businesses impacted by COVID.
- 52 Auburn businesses were awarded grants ranging from $3,000 to $8,580.

Amelia’s Pizza
Forget the freezer and the microwave, this pizza stop serves only the freshest ingredients for your pizza cravings. Previously opened as BB’s Pizza, this location rebranded after ownership was passed down from father to son. Stop by on Genesee Street and grab a slice.
Moonflower
Love pastries? This petite boutique specializes in Fresh macaroons and can be found right on Seminary Ave. Order up!
Octane Social House
Located on Genesee Street, this social house sources seventy percent of its food from local vendors and aims to be a gathering space for the Auburn community. Stop in and grab a hot espresso, browse their bookstore, or snag a window seat and relax right downtown.
